Winnie-the-Pooh returns to London Zoo this autumn

Winnie-the-Pooh heads to London Zoo for a brand-new adventure!

Families are invited to follow in the pawprints of the world’s most beloved bear this October and autumn half term, joining Winnie-the-Pooh and his friend Eeyore as they embark on a new adventure through London Zoo. 

Based on a magical tale in the new book published by Harper Collins, Winnie-the-Pooh: A Little Boy and His Bear - written by Jane Riordan in the style of A.A. Milne to celebrate Winnie's 100th anniversary - the trail brings the story to life, taking young explorers on the duo's journey through the iconic conservation zoo, after Christopher Robin accidentally leaves them behind overnight. 

Ready to follow Pooh and Eeyore on a storybook adventure at London Zoo?

The adventure begins at the historic Mappin Terraces, known as ‘Bear Mountain’, where zookeepers will introduce families to the true story of Winnipeg the bear, who lived there at London Zoo from 1914 and inspired the name of Milne’s much-loved character Winnie-the-Pooh. 

Visitors will be equipped with a map to embark on Pooh and Eeyore’s night-time adventure around the Zoo, where along the way, the story will leap from the pages of giant books, helping families to complete their own Pooh-inspired journals.  

Young adventurers will be challenged to spot animals including pygmy hippos, zebras, bushbabies and slender lorises, collect stamps and other special items for their journal, and even create their own sleepy bedtime song - just like Winnie does in the enchanting new story.  

The story trail ends at the Zoo's Penguin Beach, where children who complete their adventure can collect a special Pooh sticker. Families can also visit the Zoo’s gift shop to pick up a copy of Winnie-the-Pooh: A Little Boy and His Bear and continue the adventure at home.  

Part of the celebrations for two very special milestones - the 100th anniversary of Winnie-the-Pooh and international conservation charity ZSL’s 200th anniversary – the story trail brings together the real history of London Zoo and one of the most enduring characters inspired by it.  

Running from Friday 2 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, A Little Boy and his Bear: A Storybook Adventure Trail, along with its accompanying map and journal, is included with Zoo entry.
