Tips to organise your home to make lockdown easier

It’s likely that the majority of us are going to be working and schooling at home for the next few months. This new routine presents different challenges depending on the ages of your kids and the amount of space you have available to you. We’ve put together a few ideas to help make this easier and don’t forget with your Family Pass you get an extra 20% off the Great Little Trading Co. who have lots of brilliant storage ideas.

Easy toy storage

If you have young kids why not take some of the toys away and then rotate them weekly / monthly. This immediately reduces the amount of physical objects in the space which alleviates stress.

Invest in some designated storage in the form of baskets or boxes for the toys. You could split these by toy type or a box for each child.

At the end of the day make putting the toys back in the right places a game by getting the kids to put them back against the clock.

Setup a reading corner

Have you got a little corner that is unused? Why not put a small bookshelf in it and a rug with some scattered cushions on the floor. Creating this special place for the kids or adults to relax and read makes it more likely the kids will want to go and use it.

Create a study area

It’s really good for mental well-being to create a specific study area if you are able to or put some time into re-arranging an existing area. Some things to bear in mind are keeping the desk area tidy, so it’s worth investing in a desk tidy and folders, if it’s a shared space then everyone can have their own. If you can place the desk in a well-lit position near a window this can promote alertness and concentration. Why not put up a pin-board and shelf in front of the desk so important bits of information and reminders can be pinned up for reference. Lastly remove distractions, make the desk area a phone and TV free area which is sure to promote concentration.

Put a tent up in the garden

If you are lucky enough to have a garden why not put a tent up? Big or small, you can transform the tent the tent into a chill-out area, home-school, cinema or home-office. As they say a change is as good as a rest.
