It's not hard to see why the Tate Modern receives over 5 million visitors a year. Known for it's vast collection of international contemporary art, it's a brilliant place to explore with the kids on a family day out. The Tate offer a broad and innovative family programme, so there's plenty to get involved with year-round.

  • Pick up a family map for £1 and let the kids lead the way around the gallery
  • Visit the Drawing Bar and get drawing at one of the digital sketch pads available
  • Take a break in one of the cafes or head out on to Southbank and explore

  • Friday and Saturday the Tate is open from 10am-10pm
  • Entry is free but some exhibitions may charge
  • Under 12's are admitted into exhibitions for free
