Best Bits

Enter an endless world of play and invention in a limitless recycled playground for children and their grown-ups to tap into their imaginations. Children and their grown-ups are invited to play side by side in this space full of things you can move, change, combine, wear and reimagine.

Part installation, part adventure playground, REPLAY is a space built entirely out of waste materials repurposed for fun by The Herd Theatre.

The space features a design to ignite imaginations, a score composed from recycled sounds and a crowd-sourced play generator.

Children and their grown-ups are invited to play side by side in this space full of things you can move, change, combine, wear and reimagine. For ages 6 months – 11. Separate play sessions available for ages 6 months – 3 years, and ages 4 years – 11 years.

In REPLAY’s self-led experience, you can build your own worlds, invent your own games, be inspired by others and leave ideas for players to come.

The Herd Theatre is based in Hull and makes shows, installations and experiences for children and families. They play alongside children to create artworks that celebrate, interrogate and nurture the joy of childhood.

REPLAY was commissioned by Southbank Centre as part of Planet Summer in 2023. It is a co-production by Southbank Centre and The Herd Theatre.

REPLAY is part of the Imagine Festival - on at Southbank Centre from Tue 18 – Sun 23 Feb 2025 - join them for a fun-filled February half-term!
