\nWhat is Children\u2019s Art Week?<\/b><\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Art Week is a UK-wide programme in which galleries, schools, youth, cultural and arts organisations across the UK run events encouraging children and young people to unleash their creativity. From animation to screen-printing, photography to puppetry, Children\u2019s Art Week gives children and young people the chance to work with artists and inspires them to create their own works of art. Children\u2019s Art Week is run by engage with support from The Foyle Foundation.<\/p>\n

\n<\/i>What is the history of Children\u2019s Art Week?<\/b><\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Art Week was previously known as Children\u2019s Art Day which has run since 2000. Over 200 events took place during the last Children\u2019s Art Day in 2010, involving around 37,000 participants!<\/p>\n

Why is important for children to engage with the arts?<\/b><\/p>\n

The arts contribute to the development and wellbeing of children and young people, fuelling their curiosity and creativity, and inspiring future audiences as well as the next generation of artists and arts leaders.<\/p>\n

\u2018Being involved with art helps me at school because before, I struggled with literacy but once I found out that I could draw I realised that I was actually a really good story teller and my work improved. There are lots of fantastic events lined up for this year, including a family activity trail at The Foundling Museum, designing your own computer game at The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, making large scale structures at Turner Contemporary, as well as events at Tate St Ives, Jupiter Artland, The Photographer\u2019s Gallery and the Whitechapel Gallery.
