So why not dust off the Scrabble board one day this Easter Holiday and settle down for a good old game of Scrabble. This is a great learning exercise for kids too!<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u2018Ish\u2019 and \u2018s\u2019 are your friends<\/strong>\u00a0who\u00a0will help you piggy-back off others\u2019 great scoring words. Be childish and selfish!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use your \u2018s\u2019 wisely:<\/strong>\u00a0Add an \u2018s\u2019 on to the end of the word but for bonus points look to\u00a0make a new word at the same time, so you can gain the points for both words.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two and three letter words<\/strong>\u00a0could get you through those stringent-lettered times, especially if you can position them in parallel to other words and benefit from the multiple scoring opportunities\u2026These top scoring two letter words are all acceptable apparently: xu, xi, za ex, ox and jo This is the tactic kids tend to be great at &#8211; they may not be pushing their luck and making up words after all&#8230;beware!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Words without vowels<\/strong>: Yes, \u2018<em>brrr<\/em>\u2019 and \u2018<em>psst<\/em>\u2019 are apparently acceptable!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t get stuck with a &#8216;Q&#8217;<\/strong>: Along with the letter \u2018z\u2019, \u2018q\u2019 is the highest scoring tile. However, commonly the letter\u00a0\u2018u\u2019 follows \u2018q\u2019 but according to the <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/track.webgains.com\/click.html?wgcampaignid=173123&amp;wgprogramid=418&amp;wgtarget=https:\/\/www.thebookpeople.co.uk\/webapp\/wcs\/stores\/servlet\/qs_product_tbp?productId=565939&amp;storeId=10001&amp;catalogId=10051&amp;langId=100&amp;searchTerm=scrabble+dictionary\">Scrabble Dictionary<\/a>\u00a0there are 17 words where this not the case. For example, <em>qwerty, tranq, qi<\/em>\u2026yup we\u2019ve got no idea what these mean either but hey, if they win you your\u00a0Scrabble game does it matter?!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Block away<\/strong> with words like \u2018<em>that<\/em>\u2019 or \u2018<em>hex<\/em>\u2019 which are hard to add to with prefixes and suffixes, and will therefore limit your opponents opportunities.
