If you\u2019ve got a young drama lover in your midst and you\u2019re stuck for ideas of how to fill their summer holidays then look no further! Our friends at the Unicorn Theatre<\/a> are running two professionally-led, intensive theatre-making courses this July \u2013 a must for all aspiring actors.<\/p>\n

\"PlayInA<\/a><\/p>\n

PLAY IN A WEEK is exactly what is says \u2013 performers will rehearse, create and perform a production in just one week \u2013 working hard to hone their skills ready for their friends and family to watch them on the Unicorn\u2019s stage.<\/p>\n

The two week-long workshops are booking up fast, so take a look at the details below and book your place soon to avoid disappointment:<\/p>\n

Week One – Monday 20th – Friday 24th July
\nFor ages 7 \u2013 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"PIAW-1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Run by\u00a0theatre director Laura Keefe<\/strong> (Jerwood Assistant Director on\u00a0Feast<\/em>\u00a0<\/i>at the Young Vic), participants will work towards a performance of Philip Osment\u2019s one act play,\u00a0Of the Terrifying Events on the Hamelin Estate,<\/em>\u00a0<\/i>a satirical re-working of the Pied Piper. To ensure that the performances are as professional as possible, children will be taught\u00a0warm-up techniques used by stage actors, how to develop their characters and how to\u00a0learn lines for multiple roles.<\/p>\n

Week Two – Monday 27th \u2013 Friday 31st July
\nF<\/b>or ages 11 – 14<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"PIAW-5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Older drama-lovers will be devising\u00a0<\/span>a brand new\u00a0show from scratch<\/strong>\u00a0using only the\u00a0themes of past, present and future.\u00a0This week will be lead by director, <\/span>Kelly Wilkinson,<\/strong>\u00a0whose particular interest lies in developing new work, having directed for many companies including the BBC Roots\u2019 Stage of Sound, Arcola Theatre, Etcetera Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, New Writing Festival and Start Nights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The week-long workshops cost \u00a3450 and include daily lunch from LEON<\/a>, a Play In A Week t-shirt and professional production photography.<\/p>\n
